hyphae is an international multidisciplinary collective formed by Gaia Fiorina (Italy/Canaries islands) and Contanza Lang (Chile). Through cinema and contemporary art practices the collective promotes the imagination, reflection and experimentation about the possibilities of a communication from a non-anthropocentric perspective, considering the role and the potential of art to create and offer new imaginaries of a possible future.
Thinking about the different ways of communication that are developed between species and entities on scales and dimensions as microscopical as immense, we are inspired by the communication net between the fungal and vegetal world known as mycelium. hyphaeis the name given to the threads that compose the mycelium net and actuate like dendrites in our natural subsoil, referring to these characteristics for our logo design.
