LOCUS

The Norwegian artist duo LOCUS, formed by Thale Blix Fastvold and Tanja Thorjussen, has been developing exhibitions, sculptures, and performances under an ecofeminist approach since 2006. Through repetitive actions and rituals of care, their artistic practice promotes close collaboration with “more-than-human” entities such as rivers, flora, and pollinators, reflecting on our interconnection with the natural environment. Outstanding recent works in their career include the piece presented at the Helsinki Biennial 2025 and their ecological sanctuaries.
LOCUS Strelitzia Pollinator Sanctuary
In their intervention at Parque Doramas, they create LOCUS Strelitzia Pollinator Sanctuary, an intervention that will be activated through a performance during the opening. The work employs Strelitzia reginae as a refuge for the monarch butterfly, a species whose population in Las Palmas faces severe threats due to pesticides, industrial agriculture, and climate change. Continuing their initiative launched in 2018, this sanctuary seeks to pay tribute to and raise public awareness of the vital interspecies relationships that sustain our ecosystem.
